We all have times when finding the motivation or time to train is difficult. Sometimes in season, you find that the adrenaline from one race doesn’t necessarily carry you to the next or that with all of summer’s festivities, finding the energy to fit it all in is a challenge! Trigirl ambassador, Katie Emery, shares a few of her mid-season blues with us; but ultimately she finds that if you fall off (your bike or your training program!) the best thing to do is to get back on…

Three weeks since my last triathlon and over three until my next one. I’m doing my best to keep up the training, but half term holidays and Jubilee celebrations have made things really tricky. I’ve had to get creative with my training sessions and accept that three a week will have to do for now…

I’ve been running with my dog through the woods and fields, nearly killing myself on the mountains of slippy mud that covers any woodland path (must treat myself to some off-road shoes). I’ve made a couple of 7am spinning classes that have really set me up for the day, though it usually takes me five minutes to work out how I got from bed to bike!

Fancy a fun women’s only sprint triathlon this weekend? Or how about just a little shopping?

Trigirl will have a booth at Chester Triathlon Club’s Deva Divas triathlon expo, this Friday, 29th June from 4pm- 6pm and Saturday, 30th June from 6:30am- 8am. Stop by the Meadows (CH4 7BB) for some great bargains on our fabulous women’s-specific triathlon clothing or just to say hello and see what we’re all about.

Best of luck to those of you who are racing. We look forward to seeing you there!

Soreness, chafing, irritation, numbness… do these words conjure up the relationship that your lady parts have with your bike? Do you find yourself out of the saddle- not to spin out your legs or speed up a hill, but just to give your nether regions some relief?

A long bike ride is a beautiful thing, but the pain that you’re experiencing may be leading you to question cycling at all. Check out our latest article, Saddle Soreness – What’s a Trigirl to Do? for ideas on relieving saddle pain once and for all!

The first thing I noticed when I opened the packet containing the Trigirl Swift Trisuit was that a little black crop top popped out too, an added bonus! Worn under the suit, it is of matching design and whilst I’ve never considered female specific suits previously, it made for very comfy wearing and I experienced no rubbing or chafing. The suit is a lovely deep pink perfectly complimenting the main body in black.

I’ve only just returned to the sport of triathlon after four years and so with no particular races planned until July, I decided to wear it for a mini brick session. A brick session, for those who are unsure, is where you combine a run and bike together for example either a repeated set of ten minutes cycling, five minutes running or even just a short run following a bike ride or turbo session. This gets your legs used to the concept of a triathlon and perfecting running off the bike. I decided to try forty minutes on the turbo followed by a twenty minute run.
Four lots of five minute race pace efforts with three minutes steady pedalling in between made me get a bit of a sweat on, but the suit’s material felt so breathable and seemed to wick moisture away from my skin. I wish my pink turbo towel would do the same for my head!

Ready to switch to clipless pedals for the first time? The world of shoes-cleats-pedals can seem a bit intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be! Check out our latest advice on why cycling-specific shoes are a good idea, what kinds of cleats and pedals are available and more.

Already using clipless pedals? Which system do you use? Here at the Trigirl office, we’ve debated the options, but we’d like to hear what you think. Let us know and help other Trigirls decide what will work best for them.

It’s the time of year when most of us get really excited about training. At last, it’s getting (a little!) warmer and race season is almost here!

In all of the excitement, don’t forget the importance of recovery. Taking the time to let your body repair itself is as important as training to help you cross that finish line in style. Schedule at least one easy day and one day off a week to keep yourself fresh, engaged and injury-free.

When it comes to competing in triathlon, the last thing you need to worry about is what to wear, right? Wrong!

Choosing your triathlon kit and packing your triathlon transition bag can be a challenging part of the sport- and one that very few train for! There’s nothing worse than training towards a big race, only to find that your kit doesn’t perform on the day or that you’ve forgotten to pack your cycling shoes.

Check out handy tips for what to wear for training and racing here, and look out for our handy race day checklist, coming soon!
